Supply chain visioning

The UK NHS Logistics Authority was looking to increase its influence on the distribution of all goods and services (£18bn) into the National Health Service. We identified the best practice models for all the different goods and services and assisted the NHS team with developing alternative supplier management models, including multiple supply channel configurations and delivery mechanisms

Supply chain strategic redesign

We managed the logistics stream of a multi stream project, which implemented a consortium lead, sector wide, strategic supply chain redesign initiative for supplying medical supplies into the NHS.

Distribution operations review

The UK Parcel Force business wanted to assess the commercial feasibility of its offering in the market place. We led a review of strategic options for individual business units to compete in the deregulated market, which included assessing the internal capabilities of each business unit and the market needs .

Logistics strategy and implementation

The UK Post Office required the design of a logistics strategy for the movement of internal items, such as uniforms, engineering spares and stationary, which was then being operated from a 20 strong regional depot structure. We developed a business case for funding, mobilisation and implementation. The scope of the project was the entire supply chain from supplier to end customer, including: order capture and management; transport; warehouse location, design and contractor selection; warehouse operations; supporting systems. We led all stages of the project from the design of the technical solution through to the successful implementation of the new distribution infrastructure, incorporating a new semi-automated warehouse solution and a new warehouse management system.

APS proof of concept pilot

The MoD initiated an investigation of the potential application of Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems in a Make, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment within the UK Military and the development of 'proof of concept pilots'. We developed conceptual models and frameworks to establish key criteria and requirements from an APS system in this environment. As part of this work, a comprehensive review of the APS software vendors was undertaken to assess suitability for the Military environment, in particular E3, Oracle and Manugistics. We then worked with Manugistics to develop an approach to running two proof of concept pilots to demonstrate the concepts of APS systems within the military air and land environment.
