De-centralisation of customer service stocksThis Aerospace customer service organisation was decentralising stock holdings from a central warehouse back into the OEM manufacturing units. We led a team to define the processes and implement new systems and reporting tools to allow the decentralisation of £100m of customer service stock in six separate locations. Cellular manufacturing implementationWe designed and implemented cellular manufacturing methods for this Aerospace components manufacturer, with a supporting organisational structure and replacement of old functional techniques with up to date JIT manufacturing principles. We developed a skill and role definition methodology, and then assisted in the selection of cell leaders and trained them in core skills. Manufacturing tool control process implementationThis US aerospace supplier had over 15,000 manufacturing tools, which were frequently being lost with a significant financial impact. A tool control process was required which would link in with the new ERP system. We redesigned the manufacturing processes that would be impacted by a new ERP system. In addition, we developed and implemented a new working procedure for control of 15,000 manufacturing tools, which included the implementation of barcode software to enable tracking within the ERP system. |
Enterprise wide cost reductionThis air management product manufacturer wanted to reduce the operational cost of the business and improve efficiency of the ongoing operation. We evaluated and then delivered business wide cost reduction opportunities of £0.6m per annum, focused within manufacturing, materials management and purchasing. The delivered detailed solutions included the design of a capacity and planning system, and new materials management processes. e-Procurement & system implementationThis major global automotive and aerospace supplier was looking to create a common procurement solution across 144 sites in over 30 countries, using common UNSPSC commodity codes and supplier coding. The scope covered requisition to payment transactions for all indirect goods and services using an internet based catalogue solution. We played a leading role on a joint consultant/client team establishing the most suitable solution for the global implementation of Oracle Internet Procurement and Data Warehousing. The team worked through the diagnostic, systems selection, conference room pilot and implementation. Global packaging image changeThis automotive parts manufacturer was about to change the packaging for over 15,000 products from 3 legacy company images to a single new corporate image. We project managed the supply of new packaging with the packaging suppliers and the packing departments to ensure continuity of supply of finished goods, minimal write off and re-packaging. He coordinated the technical and artwork operations to ensure that the suppliers could manufacture in time for the cut over dates. As part of the work, it was necessary to implement new procurement processes to allow pre-stocking and call-off of core lines from the suppliers. |
